The Beacon School’s Drug and Alcohol Addictions Counseling program has proven to be a positive influence on the behavior of those students who are at risk of or are recovering from chemical abuse and/or dependency.  A program of individual, group and family drug and alcohol addictions counseling is designed with the involvement of students, parents and school staff.

Intake evaluations and screening assessments are completed for identified students.  Appropriate treatment strategies for chemical abuse and/or dependency are then recommended by The Beacon School’s Licensed and Certified Drug and Alcohol Addictions Counselor.  Together with the student and his or her parent, achievable goals are determined.  A close liaison between the student’s home and school is continually maintained regarding the progress of counseling.  Recommendations are also made for any on-going or additional services.

Also available, is individual and/or group counseling for parents and family members to support the student’s best recovery from chemical abuse and/or dependency and/or peer involvement with chemical abuse.  The Beacon School’s therapeutic counseling room is a safe and confidential environment with a resource area that includes applicable books, videos and real-life stories.

Positively influencing student’s lives and supporting student’s personal progress is the goal of The Beacon School’s counseling services.
